RED NOSE DAY

Thank you for supporting our Red Nose Day event last Friday.  We purchased 480 red noses and between the junior and infant schools managed to completely sell out!  Together with donations on the day we raised £672.62 for Comic Relief!

YVONNE PYE RETIRES

After 32 years of working in our school Yvonne retires.  Many of our parents may have had personal experience of her support during their school years.  Yvonne has worked in many capacities and is well known in our school and in our community.  Working as a Teaching and Mid-day Assistant in addition to being a Brown Owl in one of our Brownie Packs in Brightlingsea and her work in the Red Cross, Yvonne’s contribution has been extensive, this was recognised recently in the presentation of an MBE in 2004 for her work in our community.

We are collecting for a school leaving present to mark her contribution to our school.  Any parent who would like to make a contribution to our fund should do so by Thursday 29th March.  Please send in your contribution in a clearly marked envelope.  Yvonne will be receiving her gift in our Friday Assembly at 9.10 and parents are invited to attend.

PARENT CONSULTATIONS

I would like to thank all parents and carers for their enthusiastic support for their children’s learning.  We hope that the arrangements in the hall helped everyone feel relaxed about the consultations.  Please remember that teachers are available throughout the year to meet with you, please pop in to see your child’s teacher or make use of ‘Show and Share’ opportunities.

DECORATED EGG EGGHIBITION

We have had a fantastic response to our decorated egg exhibition.  Teri Owen our local Health Visitor had a very difficult job selecting two winners from each year group.

The Winners were Archie Brumbley (RL), Travis Chadborn (RZ), Milly Poynter (1RM), James Pullen (1M), Louis Butcher (2S) and Tony Locking (2P).  Well done to all children who participated.  Each child who entered will receive a certificate acknowledging their contribution to the exhibition.

Please could all eggs be collected by Monday or we will have some unpleasant smells circulating in the reception area – Thank you !

DEVELOPING A FOOD POLICY

We are currently looking to revise our Nutritional Standards policy for our school and would really appreciate the advice and support of our parents.  With this newsletter there is a questionnaire to help us determine what our parents view as important.  We are hoping for a good return of these questionnaires and we hope to achieve a comprehensive impression of parents’ views in our school.  Please take time to read and return the questionnaire, your views are important to us.  Sue Roche is co-ordinating this important area of our work and would welcome informal discussions with groups or individual parents to discuss this issue further.  Please contact Sue for more information.
