DRUG AND ALCOHOL EDUCATION
Are you confident to deal with children’s questions about drugs and alcohol? Do you feel you have enough knowledge to recognise changes in your children’s behaviour that could be related to drugs and alcohol? If the answer is no, or you feel you would like to have your own knowledge updated, please come along to our information evening on drugs and alcohol presented by EYPDAS (Essex Young Peoples Drug and Alcohol Service.
The evening is targeting parents and carers of children at the Colne, Brightlingsea Junior and Infant Schools. We anticipate that this will be a popular information session so it is important to pre-book a place. Please refer to the flyer with this newsletter for booking form and more information.
KIDS ON THE CATWALK
The Schools Association have had a good response for tickets for this event. There are a few tickets left and these can be purchased on the door. This should be a good event.
PARKING IN THE TOWN COUNCIL CAR PARK
I have been concerned about the new parking restrictions at the Town Council car park and how this may increase the numbers of cars using Eastern Road to drop off and park at the beginning and end of the day. I have been working with the District Council to come to an agreement about changes to parking restrictions in the Town Council car park. The following statement has been agreed.
‘Tendring District Council has taken into consideration (the parking difficulties) and the local portfolio holder has expressed views. There is an informal agreement that Tendring District Council Parking Attendants will not patrol this car park at the beginning and end of the school day.
Therefore, parents will be able to continue to use the car park on school days during term time without purchasing a ticket during the following hours:
08:30 – 09:30
14:30 – 15:30
Parents must be aware that any vehicle without a ticket at other times will be subject to a penalty.
This seems to offer an ideal solution and enables parents bringing children to school by car to continue to use the car park’.
RIDING BIKES
I have had several complaints from parents of children who have been knocked to the floor by bikes and scooters that have been used on school premises. Please can I remind all parents, carers and children that bikes and scooters are to be pushed and walked on the school site to prevent further accidents in the future. Thank you.
