The PTA at Brightlingsea Infant School

The Brightlingsea Infants and Junior Schools Association, or PTA as it is more commonly known, is a registered charity run by a group of people who meet regularly to discuss and organise fundraising events from which our children and their schools directly benefit from.

The main aim of the PTA is to organise a broad range of fun events that give something back to those who attend and to hopefully raise money from those events to help improve the environment for our children’s school.

The PTA consists primarily of a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and a small committee which are legally required elected positions needed to run this association as a charity, plus anybody else (parents, carers, grandparents, teachers, etc) who are interested and able to offer some of their time to help out in many different ways with any of the events that are organised throughout the year.

Our main profit making events throughout the year are the Easter, Summer and Christmas Fayres and the Firework Display, but lots of other events organised throughout the year like the end of term discos, quiz nites, beetle-drives etc. are organised more for the ‘fun factor’ than for money making reasons, although with the great support we continue to receive from everyone, most events do in fact make a small profit at the very least.

Over the past two years both schools have received over £10,000 each purely from PTA funds, making it possible for the schools to purchase much needed TV and Video equipment and interactive computer equipment for the classrooms, supply a new library complete with books, buy playground and PE equipment, help subsidise out of school theatre trips and in school theatre group visits, as well as helping towards structural and building works – to name but a few!

How can you help?  Please continue to support our events.  Volunteer a few hours a year to help – if you are not able to or do not feel confident enough to get involved with helping on a larger scale on the day of a particular event, then there are lots of little ‘behind the scenes’ things that need doing prior to most events, often things that can be done from home, please just ask.  Join us for our monthly meetings – any positive suggestions and new ideas are greatly appreciated.

If you would like to speak to any of the PTA committee members for any reason, please leave your name and telephone number at the main office at either school and someone will contact you.
